So why do you think you can knock up a cheap website and provide a service online that is way below your own standards?

Here is a simple test for you!

  1. Take your type of business and think about what phrase your customers may use to find you online.
  2. Goto www.google.co.uk and type in that phrase.
  3. Out of the first 5 results, not the sponsored adverts, have a look at each website.
  4. Now mark each site based on the following criteria.
    1. Did the website make you feel confident in the business, someone you would call?
    2. Was the contact telephone number obvious?
    3. Just like you decide whether you like the look of a car or a mobile phone, do you like the look of the site?
    4. Was the navigation obvious?
    5. Within 2 clicks of the mouse, can you get close to what you were looking for?
    6. Do you understand the words they are using on the web page?

How did you find it?

To be honest, just the fact that you started to have an opinion means the layout, design and attention to detail mattered and it will matter to your customers who will do the same as you have just done, without thinking.
