Usability Testing an online shop for Keeler

Making sure your online visitors have everything they need is critical but when is enough enough?

Our project with Keeler started in mid June when were asked could we build an online shop that would allow them to sell there products online.

The immediate answer was yes, but how much?  The Keeler catalogue has a huge number of products, sub products, parts and so on with product numbers and it also integrates with an internal ordering system.

We were fortunate to be working Guy Frankland who had been in charge of design and marketing for many years with Keeler so he new the industry, the products and the people really well.

Spending time with Guy showed us how to understand there products and who uses them, which proved absolutely vital in providing the right information online.

Some 4 months later after producing designs and sample layouts, we were set on a design and also had produced a lyout for the product descriptions. This information had been shown to a number of clients for feedback and it was this sort of testing that made a difference.

By establishing who did the buying, their own knowledge of the product and their abilities on a pc it was clear we had to simplify everything.

It is this sort of time and effort that can make or break a shop online.
